The Debate Between Musa(AS) and Pharaoh

The scorching heat in the Egyptian desert is like a microwave oven working 24/7. Even in such conditions, Allah allowed a civilization to prosper and spread its wings across the lands. As their power continued to grow the leaders became ignorant and began to inflict inconceivable pain on the people they had authority over. It was in this time that Allah sent His messenger Musa and with him Haroon to stand up to Pharaoh and proclaim the Oneness of Allah and his Prophethood.

On arriving in the Pharaohs court, Musa (AS) said:

‘Verily we are messengers sent by thy Lord: Send forth, therefore, the Children of Israel with us, and afflict them not: with a Sign, indeed, have we come from thy Lord! and peace to all who follow guidance!

They further said, “‘Verily it has been revealed to us that the Penalty (awaits) those who reject and turn away.’”

Once the message was delivered, (Pharaoh) said: “Who, then, O Moses, is the Lord of you two?”

He (Musa) said: “Our Lord is He Who gave to each (created) thing its form and nature, and further, gave (it) guidance.”

(Pharaoh) said: “What then is the condition of previous generations?”

He replied: “The knowledge of that is with my Lord, duly recorded: my Lord never errs, nor forgets. He Who has, made for you the earth like a carpet spread out; has enabled you to go about therein by roads (and channels); and has sent down water from the sky.” With it have We produced diverse pairs of plants each separate from the others.”
The debate began to heat up, as Musa continued to answer Pharaohs questions. Seeing this ‘(Pharaoh) said : Have you come to us that you should turn us out of our land by your magic, O Musa? So we too will produce before you magic like it, therefore make between us and you, an appointment, which we should not break, (neither) we nor you, (in) a central place.”

(Musa) said: Your appointment is the day of the Festival and let the people be gathered together in the early forenoon.
